The School of Nimbus Dance Works offers a rigorous Pre-Professional program designed for advanced teenage students ages 13-18. Nimbus Pre-Professional students receive the training required for a possible career in the professional dance world and for entrance to competitive high school and college dance programs. Students in the Pre-Professional program are required to participate in the following:

  • Six technique classes per week in ballet, modern, jazz, and hip hop.
  • Opportunity Knocks, a series of conversation-based seminars on self-development, time management, college prep, and team-building.
  • Nimbus Youth Ensemble, Nimbus’ elite performance ensemble for top teens in the Jersey City and the greater New York City area (see below).

Nimbus Youth Ensemble

An elite performance ensemble, Nimbus Youth Ensemble (NYE) offers Pre-Professional students the opportunity to work with professional choreographers in a diverse repertory intended to develop the ensemble members' artistic and technical range and skill. 
 
The Nimbus Youth Ensemble performs throughout the region at public events and performances, local schools, hospitals, senior centers, Jersey City Nutcracker, and The School of Nimbus Showcase. Acceptance into NYE is by audition only and students must be members of the Pre-Professional program to be a member of NYE. Rehearsals for NYE are throughout the academic year.
 
Student graduates of NYE have been accepted into some of the most renowned university dance programs in the country as well as competitive local high school dance programs.
