COVID-19 Protocols & Procedures

The School of Nimbus is committed to providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for our students, staff, and faculty to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please take a moment to read through the policies and procedures we will be implementing during the school year.

COVID-19 Protocols

Currently, the Nimbus Arts Center COVID-19 guidelines operate on the Honor System. We do not require proof of vaccination or test results.

We recommend the following guidelines and appreciate your attentiveness to keeping our community safe. We recommend that if you are feeling ill, please be proactive and stay home!

Masks

  • The Nimbus Arts Center is a mask-optional environment.

  • The mask policy at The Nimbus Arts Center will be under review if needed and is guided by the level of community outbreak in New Jersey/Jersey City. All Health & Safety Protocols are subject to change.

Vaccination / Testing

  • Proof of vaccination is no longer required to enter the Nimbus Arts Center. However, because dance involves close contact, physical exertion, and perspiration, we strongly recommend that students, staff, and patrons continue stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccinations and maintain an annual flu vaccine as per CDC Guidelines.

If you test positive for COVID-19 and or have symptoms:

Regardless of your vaccination status, anyone who tests positive and/or has symptoms must do the following per CDC guidelines as of March 1, 2024:

  • If you test positive for COVID but have no symptoms, Nimbus requires that you wear a mask for 5 days after a positive test while at Nimbus. The day of your positive test result is day 0.

  • When sick, isolate yourself by staying at home and away from others.  You must test for COVID on day 5 after exposure or when symptoms first start.

  • If you have been fever-free, without the use of fever-reducing medication, for 24 hours and have no symptoms, or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can return to classes. If you still have a fever or your symptoms are not resolving, it is recommended to remain at home away from others until your fever resolves.

  • School of Nimbus Only: Send an email immediately to school@nimbusdanceworks.org to inform us of your positive test result and schedule your make-up classes. Students who have tested positive and are following the 5-day stay at home period will be excused from classes and will receive a make-up class for all classes missed.

  • If you test positive and can not attend a performance for which you have purchased a ticket, we will honor a full refund or transfer of your ticket if Nimbus is the party in control of ticketing. For events produced at Nimbus by other organizations or when Nimbus is produced off-site, please contact the producing theater/organization to inquire about policies and refunds.

Quarantine vs. Isolation

Isolation and quarantine help protect the public by preventing exposure to people who have or may have a contagious disease.

Isolation separates sick people with a contagious disease from people who are not sick.

Quarantine separates and restricts the movement of people who were exposed to a contagious disease to see if they become sick.

If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 but are not sick:

  • If you have been exposed but have no symptoms, Nimbus requires you wear a mask when at Nimbus and monitor for symptoms until you are able to get tested.

  • It is recommended to get tested on day 5 after exposure (day of exposure is day 0). If you develop symptoms, get tested immediately and stay at home away from others.

  • After 5 days, if you have tested negative and/or have no symptoms, you no longer have to wear a mask.
