The Nimbus Youth Ensemble is the pre-professional performance group of the School of Nimbus, comprised of dedicated and talented young dancers selected through audition. The Ensemble trains intensively in ballet, modern, and contemporary styles and performs throughout the year at professional venues, community events, and Nimbus Dance productions—including the acclaimed Jersey. Nutcracker. Members of the Ensemble are mentored by Nimbus Dance company artists and guest choreographers, providing a unique window into the professional dance world. With a focus on excellence, collaboration, and artistic growth, the Nimbus Youth Ensemble prepares its dancers for future careers in dance and nurtures the next generation of movement artists and leaders.
*All students accepted into the Nimbus Youth Ensemble are automatically enrolled in the Pre-Professional Program*
Graduates of The Nimbus Youth Ensemble have gone on to study at renowned university dance programs as well as competitive local high school dance programs.

Pre-Professional Program
The Nimbus Preprofessional Program offers rigorous, conservatory-style dance training for aspiring young artists ages 13–18, preparing them for advanced study and potential careers in the performing arts. Rooted in technical excellence, creative development, and individualized mentorship, the program provides students with an immersive experience in ballet, modern, contemporary, and additional dance forms, taught by esteemed faculty and professional dancers from Nimbus Dance.
Students engage in a comprehensive curriculum that includes technique classes, performance studies, choreography, and career readiness workshops.
Through intensive training, performance opportunities, and connection to the professional dance world, the Nimbus Preprofessional Program cultivates confident, versatile, and expressive young artists ready to take their next steps—whether in college dance programs or professional companies. Students in the Pre-Professional program are required to participate in the following:
Seven required technique classes per week (listed below)
Two required rehearsal per week
Monthly masterclasses with leaders in the professional industry
Professional Seminars on self-development, time management, college prep, team-building, injury prevention and auditioning.
20 hours of Work Study at the Nimbus Arts Center per semester

Junior Youth Ensemble

The Junior Youth Ensemble (JYE) explores increasingly challenging repertory, works intensively with professional choreographers, and develops tight bonds with a core group of motivated peers. JYE members are ages 9-12.
Participants can expect to make significant progress in dance technique and performance skills – and have a lot of fun! The JYE performs in Jersey Nutcracker, throughout Jersey City in public performances, and at the School of Nimbus Dance Spring Showcase. Admission to the Junior Youth Ensemble is by audition.
Students in the Junior Youth Ensemble are required to participate in the following:
A minimum of 5 required technique classes per week (listed below)
Two required rehearsal per week

Public and professional performances throughout Jersey City
