Spend a fun-filled summer at the Nimbus Arts Center: dance, sing, act and explore the visual arts at JC SummerArts! This full-day camp culminates with a performance every week based on an exciting theme. Students will learn from our exceptional professional Teaching Artists, gain performance experience, make new friends, and have a ton of fun!

Refund Policy

Total balance is due by June 1, 2025, payment plans are available. Tuition (excluding $75 deposit) is fully refundable until June 1, 2025.

No refunds will be granted after June 1, 2025.

 

Week 1 (July 7th - 11th): Sea Adventure Week

Set sail on an artistic journey beneath the waves during Sea Adventure Week! Campers will dive into the world of ocean-inspired performance, creating sea creatures, sailors, and underwater adventures through dance, drama, and music. Campers will explore the mysteries of the deep blue, while celebrating the beauty and wonder of the ocean! 

Week 2 (July 14th-18th): Emerald City Week - Dorothy and Friends

Step into the magical world of the Emerald City and embark on an unforgettable adventure through performance and creativity! Inspired by the stories of The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, and The Wiz, campers will explore the themes of courage, friendship, and self-discovery. Campers will bring the magic of the Emerald City to life, showing that the real treasures are found within! 

Week 3 (July 21st - July 25th): Space Explorer Week

Prepare for lift-off as campers become Space Explorers on an out-of-this-world adventure! This week, they’ll journey through the cosmos using the power of performance, creating scenes, dances, and stories inspired by planets, stars, and galaxies far, far away. 

Week 4 (July 28th - August 1st): Green Guardians Week - Protecting Our Planet

Become a Green Guardian and join the mission to protect the Earth through the power of performance! This week, campers will explore environmental themes like conservation, sustainability, and wildlife protection. From crafting recycled costumes to performing in a show that inspires change, campers will discover how creativity can help protect the Earth. It’s a week of fun, learning, and making a positive impact on the world around us! 

Week 5 (August 4th- August 8th): Inside Out Week - Feel, Create, Perform!

Explore the world of emotions through creative expression, as campers bring feelings to life on stage through acting, dance, and art. Every day, they’ll discover new ways to express and understand emotions, turning them into unforgettable performances!

Week 6 (August 11th - 15th): Robots & Transformers Week 

Power up your creativity and step into a world of mechanical magic during Robots & Transformers Week! Campers will bring their favorite robots and transforming heroes to life through dance, drama, and movement. Campers will also design costumes and props, blending theater, dance, and design to tell futuristic stories. Get ready to create, perform, and transform on stage!

Week 7 (August 18th - August 22nd): Magic & Mystery Week

Step into a world of enchantment and intrigue during Magic & Mystery Week! Campers will embark on a week of magical adventures. From designing their own magical creatures to unraveling spooky mysteries, this week is packed with fun surprises! With a touch of imagination, creativity, and teamwork, campers will unlock the mysteries of the unknown and discover that magic is all around us. 

Week 8 (August 25th - August 29th): Time Travelers Week - Journey Through the Ages

Grab your time machine and embark on an epic adventure through history! This week campers will explore different eras—from the ancient past to the distant future—through performance, storytelling, and creative expression. Whether they’re acting out scenes from the Jurassic period, dancing through the Roaring '20s, or imagining life in the year 3000, campers will bring history and the future to life on stage. 

Each week will culminate in a student performance based on the theme of the week. Friday at 4pm, Parents are invited to attend the performance (with lights and all!) in Nimbus’ professional black box theater. There is no after-care on Fridays.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Lunch & Snack are not provided. Campers are required to pack nut-free lunches and snacks.

  • Groups will be assigned according to the camper's age on Monday of each week. Campers must be at least 4 years old by their first day of camp.

  • All campers must be able to use the bathroom independently.

  • Groups will rotate for Outdoor Time throughout the week. 

  • Younger campers will have the opportunity to nap during Quiet Time.

  • Screen time will be limited and monitored. Nimbus has an assortment of age-appropriate “Free Time” activities. Campers are welcome to bring their own toys/activities from home for Free Time.

JC SummerArts is looking for Leaders in Training (LITs) to assist with camp this summer! ☀️🌼

LITs play a vital role in JC SummerArts, acting as camp counselors and ensuring the success and happiness of their campers. If you are interested in a Leader In Training position, please send an email to jcsummerarts@nimbusdanceworks.org with the following info:

Details:
Camp runs July 7th - August 29th, Monday-Friday. LITs are needed from 8:30 am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday. LITs will earn $15.49/hr. If you are unavailable for the entire camp, please respond with your availability and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.

As an LIT you will:

  • Help motivate & assist campers of JC SummerArts with fellow LITs

  • Communicate with fellow LITs and campers effectively and respectfully

  • Assist Teaching Artists in achieving weekly goals.

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of physical spaces (e.g. studios, theater, waiting areas, etc.)

  • Remain observant and aware of your surroundings at all times, including during class, snack/lunch time, or outdoor time.

  • Receive mentorship from Camp Director and Teaching Artists who are working professionals in their field.

  • Have fun & be open to gaining new skills!
