Important Update From Samuel Pott: Fall Term Start Date Postponed to Sept. 22
As many of you know, Nimbus is investing significantly in the dance studios in Summit, installing new state-of-the-art sprung dance floors, marley, and ballet barres.
We have encountered logistical delays with the delivery of rubber for the dance floors. Although we now have a confirmed delivery date for later this week, the logistical challenges have caused delays in completing the full construction.
On account of this, we are forced to postpone the start of the fall term by one week. Classes will start on Monday, September 22. The Fall Term will continue through February 9, ensuring a full 15-week term.
We recognize that this postponement is unfortunate and may cause complications with your planned schedule for the coming week. We sincerely apologize for any disruption and assure you that we are working as diligently as possible to complete construction on these wonderful improvements to the studio, which will provide a safe learning environment for our students.
Please reach me directly (samuel@nimbusdanceworks.org) with any questions or concerns. We can't wait to get started with instruction, rehearsals, and performances with you.
Sincerely,
Samuel Pott

Welcome to the School of Nimbus Dance in Summit!
A Message from Samuel Pott & Sarah Lane
With great excitement, we welcome you to the Summit campus of the School of Nimbus Dance.
This new chapter begins with heartfelt acknowledgment of the extraordinary legacy of the New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (NJDTE). For over 50 years, NJDTE has been a beacon of excellence in dance education and performance in Summit and beyond. We honor this deeply felt impact on generations of dancers and are humbled to carry forward a space so rich with artistry, discipline, and heart!
At Nimbus, we bring with us a mission rooted in artistic rigor, equity, and community engagement. As Founder and Artistic Director of Nimbus, I (Sam) have long envisioned a school that not only trains technically outstanding dancers, but also shapes empowered, expressive artists confident in their individuality and creative voice. This vision is enriched by the multi-faceted nature of Nimbus – our acclaimed professional dance company, our school, community programs, and the Nimbus Arts Center in Jersey City. Opportunities for students to engage with our company, Nimbus Dance will be immediately felt in Summit with planned Fall performances, and our popular Jersey Nutcracker which will be produced this December at NJPAC, Wilkins Theater/Kean University, and the Nimbus Arts Center.
As a former principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre and now Co-Director of the School of Nimbus: Summit, I (Sarah) am deeply honored and exhilarated to share the artistry, discipline, and joy that shaped my own journey in dance. At Nimbus, we are committed not only to delivering world-class training, but to fostering a vibrant, supportive community where dancers of every age and ambition feel seen, inspired, and empowered to grow. We believe in the transformative power of mentorship, in the strength of human connection, and in opening doors to opportunity—onstage and beyond. Whether you’re seeking a space to express your creativity or striving to elevate your training toward a professional path, you have a place here—and your journey matters.
This Fall, the School of Nimbus Summit Location will offer:
Professional-caliber instruction in ballet, modern, and performance
Access to internationally recognized teaching artists and guest faculty
A bridge to performance and touring opportunities with Nimbus Dance
A warm, supportive studio culture grounded in artistic excellence
We invite you to become part of our growing community—a place where dance is not only taught but celebrated as a powerful force for expression, growth, and joy.
With gratitude and excitement,
